Greater...

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world - 1 John 4:4

As a child, do you recall the first time you heard 'Daniel in lion's den' story? Eyes wide open paying attention to every word that comes out of the narrator, pulse racing and even sweating, do you remember the excitement inside of you?

Do you experience the same kind of emotions today when you hear the same story...? Why? What changed? Is that incident any less miraculous or less exciting or less of a fact today than it was in history or the first time you heard it?

With growth comes maturity, etiquette, political correctness, diplomatic expression etc. etc. In other words, we learn to conceal our true inner self not to be perceived childish or immature. But, there are things about which you never ever want to lose your excitement no matter what age, time and season you are in.

Look at the way John begins this verse addressing the congregation as 'little children'. It's not a super secret that John is telling them but the simple fact that they already knew but lost their conviction and excitement about it. John reminds them to go back to their childhood and see God the Holy Spirit through the same sweet, little, innocent, exciting eyes of a child's heart.

John as a narrator of the greatest mystery is saying, "Guys, can you believe the creator of the whole universe lives inside of you, the created being? Is anything more mysterious, exciting and awesome than this? have you gotten a grip of it yet? Why are you afraid, perplexed and worried? Have you forgotten who is inside of you or have you forgotten that HE is the creator of the universe? Which one?"

Dearly beloved, there are things we ought to be excited about every moment of our life such as Jesus Christ, Salvation ONLY through HIS resurrection, Indwelling Holy Spirit Spirit and looking forward to an eternity in HIS presence! If we lose our excitement about these little but foundational facts of our faith, we become worry warts and can never be the salt and light of the earth as we are called to be.

Would you remind yourself of this verse few times throughout the day? Would you remember to verbally say it as you go about doing things today? Would you reassure yourself that the one in you is GREATER than the one in the world? May this reassuring Word of God bring you a new sense of confidence, conviction and courage to take victory over whatever the world brings your way today and every day! Blessings!
