In the commercialization, glamour and blitz around love in this world, genuine love as described here is hard to find or even lost to a large extent.
Settling scores against each other has overtaken loving one another even at a cost. Long term outcome of love is lost in the short term gains of pleasure! The holistic idea of beauty inside and out has become novel!
When was the last time loving someone costed you something - your comfort zone, pride, self-respect or money?
When was the last time you loved a stranger for nothing, even goodwill?
When was the last time you loved in the midst of hurt or in spite of your hurt?
When was it that you sacrificed something to love someone?
The first word even non-believers associate with Jesus is Love. A love that changed the world forever. May God bless us to love genuinely, sacrificially and meaningfully. It was not nails that held Jesus on the cross but the genuine love he had for you and me. If we say we follow Jesus, then may an iota of His love reflect through us that's over and above what the world celebrates.
Apart from me you do nothing Jesus said, that fits first and foremost for love, as we know what love is because He first loved us. That's the Love that 1 Corinthians 13 talks about.
May your love for God and love for one another be gentle, genuine and generous that world would see a difference.
A three pronged cord is not easily broken. May you be bound around Jesus that your Love is evident, explicit and engaging the culture we live in.
Blessings for the day and the week ahead.
