Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth
That my friends, is the gateway to all of Bible! Media and people all around the world are buzzing today as its Eclipse time. Hotels, even motels in the path of eclipse have sold out for outrageous price. About ~1.5 million people have travelled to TX alone today to catch a glimpse of eclipse. Watch parties all over the path of it and I am so excited to catch a glimpse of this amazing natural phenomenon!
How cool is to know that My God created, put them in place and reigns over all of these celestial bodies? In fact this morning, I was wondering what Angels would be thinking? They might wonder “What’s up with humans today, gazing at the sky as if they the beauty of creation just dawned on them?"
Ps 19:1-3 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
One of my keen interests is cloud watching and I always see sky as God's canvas. I’ve not seen an artwork that’s more natural and more beautiful than cloud formation (Geeks, I know what you are thinking…its not that LOL).
Speaking of Solar eclipse, just consider this: Scientists have discovered that the earth is perfectly positioned to sustain life. Sometimes we hear people say, "This all just so happened. It was a wonderful cosmic accident". NO, it's a marvelous design by Creator God.
Did it just so happen that the earth is 93 million miles away from a sun that has a surface temperature of about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit. If we were as close to the sun as Venus, we'd burn up, but if we were as far away as Mars, we'd freeze.
Did it just so happen that the earth makes 365 revolutions as it journeys around the sun. If it only made thirty, the days would be ten times longer and there would be alternate burning and freezing.
Did it just so happen that this revolving sphere is tilted on its axis perfectly in relation to the sun to give us four beautiful seasons.
Did it just so happen that if our oceans were half their present dimensions, there would be less than a quarter of the rainfall we now have on the earth; if the oceans were just one-eighth bigger, the earth would flood.
That’s why Psalmist says in Ps 19:5-6 In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. 6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
And we are the center of the universe as far as life is concerned. It's a pretty big universe. If you travel 186,000 miles per second, it would take you 100,000 years to get from one end of the Milky Way galaxy to the other end of it. And even then, you haven't left the front yard, because there are 100 billion more galaxies beyond our own.
And in unfathomable universe, you are the center of God's attention. In the midst of it this massive magnitude, God was mindful of humanity and you in particular!!! How does that make you feel?
Yes, eclipse is a rare occurrence and it is amazing but eclipse or the aurora borealis; they all reflect a super tiny fragment of the glory of God almighty who is mindful of you! Never lose grip of that?
As you enjoy a small show of the grandeur and galore of the galaxy today, would you say in your heart (paraphrasing Psa 8:4)
God, what is man that You are mindful of me, And the son of man that You visit me?
